Streisand gig raises $9m for Obama

Barbara Streisand gave a rare live performance on Tuesday to raise funds for Barack Obama's US presidential campaign.

The singer was joined by celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jodie Foster and Jamie Lee Curtis at the event, which took place at Hollywood's Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Show tickets cost $2,500 each and, in addition to donations from the famous audience, around $9 million (£4.9m) was raised for Obama's bid.

Streisand recently made the top five in a list of the most charitable celebrities in the US.
