McCartney "so happy" with new girlfriend

Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he is "so happy" with new girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

The couple, who have been dating since last year, appeared together in London for the first time on Tuesday.

The former Beatle said they had enjoyed their holiday in America last month, during which they camped under the stars.

He is quoted as saying: "We had a brilliant time in the US. We stayed mainly in hotels but did the whole Route 66 gig.

"It was great and we're so happy."
