Cruise praises Holmes's new role

Tom Cruise was full of praise for wife Katie Holmes's Broadway debut last night.

The actor watched as Holmes took part in All My Sons alongside former Third Rock From The Sun star John Lithgow.

In the play, Lithgow portrays Joe Keller, a businessman whose partner is mistakenly sent to prison. Holmes plays his wife Ann.

Cruise arrived to applause from the audience, who then cheered when he hugged Rain Man co-star Dustin Hoffan.

When asked afterwards how he felt Holmes had performed, he told The Associated Press: "Did you see it?... It was extraordinary."
