Rock band and longtime Manchester City Football Club fans Oasis are to headline a large club party in 2009, it has been claimed.

According to The Sun, the group will be given £1 million each to perform next summer, in a move new City owners Abu Dhabi United Group believe will help improve their relationship with fans.

"The owners want to ally themselves with strong brands and see Oasis as playing a vital role in helping to move the club forward very quickly," a source commented.

Noel Gallagher, who this week revealed plans to record a solo record, recently told the BBC that he would be interested in listening to offers from club executive Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

"Well, can I just throw my hat in the ring here and tell him that I'm available for any after show parties he wants me to play at if he's throwing that type of money around," he said.
