Richie refuses to shield daughter in public

Nicole Richie has revealed that she is reluctant to shield her daughter from the press.

The socialite insisted that baby Harlow would be deprived of an enjoyable childhood if she attempted to prevent snappers from taking pictures of her.

"I can't put her in the infant seat and cover her. She'd definitely know something's going on," Richie told WENN. "She wants to experience life and, as a mother, that's important."

Richie welcomed Harlow, her first child with Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, in January this year. The couple have insisted that they currently have no plans to marry.
