Meg Ryan opens up about Quaid, Crowe

Meg Ryan has spoken about her split with ex-husband Dennis Quaid and her affair with Russell Crowe.

The actress, 46, said Quaid had cheated on her and divorcing him made her feel free.

She told InStyle: "Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful.

"I am not a victim. I was there. I was in that marriage for a really long time."

Talking about their split in 2000 after nine years, she added: "It was also increasingly liberating. Now I was utterly free. I didn't have to care about what people thought. I have gotten to do what I secretly wanted to do. Be totally under the radar and live my life."

Ryan, who has 16-year-old son Jack with her ex-husband, began an affair with Crowe on the set of 2000 film Proof Of Life but ended the romance after a few months.

She insisted that the actor was not responsible for her split with Quaid, saying: "I was a mess. I hurt him too at the end.

"I couldn't be in another long relationship. It wasn't the time for that. So I got out."
