A San Francisco judge refused the Basic Instinct star's request at a hearing earlier this month, reports the BBC.
The request was the latest fight in Stone's ongoing battle for primary custody of her 8-year-old son.
He has been living with his father, Phil Bronstein, who the judge ruled provided a more stable and structured home.
The decision backs up a 2007 ruling to give the newspaper executive sole custody.
Stone, who has two other adopted sons, retains visiting rights. The judge said the parents should consult with each other before enrolling their child in any tutoring activities.
