Wayne Rooney was rescued by motorway patrol on Monday after his car broke down due to a petrol mix-up.

The Manchester United footballer had filled wife Coleen's car with unleaded petrol rather than diesel, causing it to break down during rush hour.

The 23-year-old, who owns a number of luxury vehicles, was heading back home to Prestbury after visiting family when he was forced to call motorway patrol for assistance.
