Illusionist David Blaine vanished into thin air at the end of his latest stunt - hanging upside down over Central Park.

The star, who was branded a cheat by critics for taking breaks during his 'Dive of Death' challenge, disappeared from sight after completing it yesterday.

After spending 60 hours hanging above Wollman Rink, Blaine dived 44 feet from the top of the scaffold, before ascending and seeming to disappear into the night sky.

However, an eyewitness commented that they were "unimpressed" by the stunt, claiming: "I'd rather be at home. If his name hadn't been David Blaine I would never have come."

Blaine set a world record for holding his breath underwater earlier this year.
