'Legally Blonde' musical to close

The musical based on Reese Witherspoon movie Legally Blonde is to shut down.

Despite MTV reality series Legally Blonde: The Search For Elle Woods boosting ticket sales, the show will close on October 19.

Bailey Hanks was cast in the lead role as a result of the programme, but the additional publicity failed to curb a slump in sales.

The Legally Blonde movie was released in 2001, followed by a sequel two years later. The Broadway show was announced in 2004.
