Freddie Fuller was rushed to intensive care after being attacked with a machete in Aldershot, Hampshire, on Christmas Eve. He suffered severe injuries to his left arm and leg, but recovered after undergoing four operations.
"Things are fine with Freddie and I, but I don't think we'll ever get over the attack," Berrabah told the Daily Record. "But we are getting on with it.
"What happened has been such a shock to the system. It was as if I have been in a dream for a year. I just wasn't me, I was a shadow of myself and can't remember most of that year. It was hard for Freddie, but we love each other and we have worked through it."
Berrabah reportedly feared being axed from Sugababes after the incident, which followed months of revelations about her personal life. She has now spoken out to deny the claims, however.
"The girls knew the truth about all the rumours about me and our management knew what was going on in my life," she said.
Sugababes' new single 'Girls' is available for download now. It will be physically released on October 6.
