Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker is to marry model Danielle Bux.
Giving his blessing, father Roy Bux commented that the 29-year-old La Senza model is happy, therefore he is too.
Lineker is 18 years older than his fiancée, but his future father-in-law does not think "the age gap matters at all".
"I met Gary when Danielle brought him round and they seemed very well-suited ... They share the same dry sense of humour and that’s important in a relationship," he said.
Bux added that his daughter is not a stereotypical airhead model, adding that she had a career long before she met the former footballer.
"She was a successful model before meeting Gary ... She was determined to make it as a model so I gave my blessing when she left for London at 18 ... Now she is the face of La Senza and I am very proud," he said.
