Paul Newman dies at 83

Hollywood icon Paul Newman died yesterday at the age of 83 after a battle with cancer.

It was reported that the actor had been seeking treatment for the disease this year, with associate A.E. Hotchner later confirming the illness.

He said: "It's a form of cancer and he's dealing with it."

Newman's last screen role was in Road To Perdition in 2002, although he provided his voice for Pixar's Cars in 2006.
