Moss self-portrait fails to sell

A self-portrait of Kate Moss drawn with lipstick failed to sell at auction today.

Bids were registered for the piece, but they did not reach the reserve price of £40,000, according to Lyon & Turnbull.

The work was completed while the model was with singer Pete Doherty, and actually contains his blood. An inscription on the canvas made by the Babyshambles star reads: "Who needs blood when you've got lipstick".

Doherty sold the piece to an anonymous buyer, who then put it up for sale at auction.
