Ant and Dec come under fire in Afghanistan

Ant and Dec came under attack during a visit to Afghanistan to present a bravery award.

The presenters were at Kandahar airport waiting to board a plane when the Taliban shot at the terminal.

Ant told ITN: "It was pretty hairy, not something I'd like to experience again. All the guys around us were pulling on body armour. We couldn't believe how close we were to being hit. It shows what our troops go through every day."

The Geordie duo had just been at Camp Bastion in Helmand province to present a Pride of Britain award to the Medical Emergency Response Team, who rescue injured colleagues from the front line.

Dec added: "One minute everything was calm and the next the sirens were wailing."

Earlier this month, the TV stars won a record three prizes at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
