Friends of Amy Winehouse have set up a constant vigil over the singer's "fragile" state of mind.

The 25-year-old apparently broke down backstage after a performance at London's 'End Of Summer Ball' on Friday, saying: "Life can’t go on, I can’t do this."

Her mates have since cancelled their commitments and set up a 24-hour watch at Winehouse's home in Camden, north London, according to The Sun.

A source said: "No one wants to leave Amy on her own. She’s in a very fragile state at the moment. Her most loyal friends are terrified she is going to do something which she can't overcome.

"She's been to hell and back already but some fear she’s going to get worse before she gets better."

Arrangements are reportedly underway for the early release from jail of Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil. The 26-year-old is serving a 27-month sentence for GBH and perverting the course of justice.

It is understood he will be allowed to leave jail early on the proviso that he moves back to his mum's Lincolnshire home, where he will wear an electronic tag and have to abide by a strict 7pm curfew.
