Cotton is said to have put the brakes on the romance after former Baywatch actress Pamela Anderson, who had a fling with Jones in 2004, revealed that she is still in touch with him.
Anderson claimed that she recently received a text from the T4 star, adding that he did not mention that he had been seeing Cotton.
The Barb Wire actress said: "I still love Steve. He's great. He's the best. I love his accent. He should've warned me about his girlfriend though!"
A source told The People that Cotton is having doubts that she and Jones will ever be a "proper" couple.
"She was enjoying herself but seems to have realised it was just a bit of fun and that he doesn't want a serious relationship," said the insider.
