Metallica rocker 'lost Porsche in bet'

Metallica star Kirk Hammett has revealed that he once lost his Porsche in a wager over record sales.

The star commented that he bet the vehicle, which he bought when he first became rich, in a "gentleman's wager" with the band's tour manager.

"I told our tour manager on The Black Album, 'If it sells over 10 million copies, I will give you my Porsche'. He called me up when it sold 10 million and one," he said.

Hammett, who recently played a cut-price gig with his bandmates at the O2 arena, commented that the tour manager had the car until last year, when he was forced to sell it.

"He put it on eBay. He was having health problems. He called: 'Is it OK if I sell it?' I said, 'Hey bro, I gave it to you. You can do whatever you want with it'," the rocker added.
