Boy George: 'My book was poisonous'

Rex Features

Boy George has described his second autobiography Straight as "vile".

The ex-Culture Club singer said the book, which was published in 2005, was full of "evil things" because of his drug habit at the time.

"Only a journalist would say they liked that book because there’s loads of evil things you can pull out," he told Metro.

"That book was poisonous. Vile. That wasn't me. That was some drug-addled freak with an axe to grind. Awful.

"I wouldn't encourage anyone to buy it, buy my first one. I take it all back."

George also admitted that he regrets attacking fellow celebrities during past interviews.

He said: "It gets in the way of what you do. I read the stuff I said about people and thought: 'You're really boring.' No one cares what I think."
