Jackson postpones shows due to illness

Janet Jackson has been forced to postpone two concerts after she fell ill minutes before she was due to go on stage in Montreal.

No public explanation has been given as to the cause of the illness, which struck the singer as she was carrying out a sound check.

A spokeswoman for the Royal Victoria Hospital said Jackson spent two hours in its care before being released.

The 42-year-old was due to perform in Boston last night and in Philadelphia tonight. However, Reuters reports the dates were cancelled due to her illness.

Representatives of the star said her 'Rock Witchu' tour will resume on Saturday in Greensboro, North Carolina.
