Simon Pegg has revealed that he would consider swapping acting for directing in the future.

The Shaun Of The Dead star, whose latest film How To Lose Friends And Alienate People is out today, commented that there are several ideas he would like to pursue.

"I completely understand why a lot of actors retreat into directing. You get to be part of the world of filmmaking, but you don't have to deal with any of the s**t," he said.

"Part of me just wants to [direct] and f**k off out of the limelight."

Pegg recently spoke out against Ricky Gervais's criticism of British cinema, calling his fellow actor "fat" and an "idiot".

"He says a lot of things, that man. He said there had been no good British films since 1950. What an idiot," he said.
