Bening: 'Palin deserves our respect'

Annette Bening has weighed in on the Hollywood debate over Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, claiming that the politician deserves respect.

The American Beauty star told Fox News that Palin is "obviously a very accomplished woman" and called for tolerance.

"I'm a Democrat, I'm a supporter of Barack Obama but she certainly deserves our respect," she said.

Actor Matt Damon recently likened Palin's appointment as John McCain's running mate to the plot of a "really bad Disney movie".
