Pegg: 'Schofield started my career'

Rex Features

Simon Pegg has credited presenter Phillip Schofield with starting his career.

The actor said his friend and collaborator Edgar Wright was given a video camera by Schofield after winning it on a TV programme.

Teletext quotes him as saying: "[Edgar] won his first video camera on a TV show.

"Phillip handed him the camera which started his career and then mine!"

Wright directed Pegg's sitcom Spaced, as well as movies Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz, the latter two of which he also co-wrote.

Pegg can currently be seen in new comedy How To Lose Friends And Alienate People.
