Actor Nolte battles house blaze

Nick Nolte has suffered smoke inhalation after attempting to extinguish a fire at his Malibu home.

Firefighters arrived to find the Cape Fear star battling the blaze with a garden hose, reports TMZ.

His publicist said: "There was an electrical fire at Nick Nolte's house. No-one was injured and there was no structural damage to the house.

"Mr Nolte is grateful to the Malibu Fire Department And Sheriff's Department for their quick response and assistance."

An estimated $3 million (£1.7 million) worth of damage was caused by the blaze, which is thought to have started in the actor's office.
