Clapton's guns to go under hammer

A collection of guns belonging to Eric Clapton are to go under the hammer and could fetch more than £500,000.

The 13 shotguns form part of a sizeable collection and include two engraved with "vignettes" of the rock star, reports The Evening Post.

Clapton reportedly told staff at Holt's Auctioneers that he has a "magpie tendency".

"I start out with a fairly broad spectrum - get obsessed, then engulfed, and finally narrow the collections down," he said.

"I built a gun room that can house a certain amount of guns, and now I have to clear the decks for the new guns I have on order."

The musician enjoys shooting in his spare time, having vowed to eat what he kills.
