Gere: 'I rarely speak to Diane Lane'

Richard Gere has confessed that he rarely speaks to Diane Lane away from the movie set.

The actor told Metro that the pair, who have appeared together in The Cotton Club, Unfaithful and this week's release Nights In Rodanthe, enjoy a "peculiar relationship".

He said: "The funny thing is we don't talk much at all. We have almost no relationship outside making movies. We exchange Christmas cards and, maybe once or twice a year, we'll call each other."

However, Gere revealed that he and Lane establish an intense bond when they work together.

"Every ten years or so, we make a film, and it's very intense and we're right in each other's hearts and minds," he commented. "It's a peculiar relationship. Thank God we both have wonderful marriages."

The 59-year-old added that he found filming sex scenes with Lane "pretty easy. I'm crazy about her".
