Streep's daughter to make acting debut

Meryl Streep's daughter is to follow in her mother's footsteps by starring in a new play.

22-year-old Grace Gummer will make her acting debut as Dora in The Sexual Neuroses Of Our Parents, a production about a girl who develops a sexual appetite which leads to pregnancy and abortion.

Gummer's older sister Mamie recently appeared on Broadway in Les Liaisons Dangereuses.

Streep, who performed on stage in Mother Courage And Her Children in 2006, commented that she is not against her children going into the profession but was unsure how they would cope.

"You just know what the road is. There's a lot of heartbreak, a lot of rejection, a lot of pain so it's hard to say, 'Sure honey, take that job, because it's really tough'," she said.
