ABBA star wins £6.7 million tax case

ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus has won 85 million kronor (£6.7 million) in a case against the Swedish tax authority.

Ulvaeus's legal advisor told the Associated Press that a court approved the musician's appeal against a decision to increase the amount of his income it considered taxable.

The 63-year-old claimed that contracts he signed to hand over song royalties meant that he could exclude the ABBA back catalogue from his personal earnings.

The Swedish tax authority accused Ulvaeus of setting up sham deals and still having access to the money.

The court's siding with the popstar will guarantee millions in tax-free income for the Mamma Mia! producer.
