Ritchie 'considered marriage a circus'

Guy Ritchie thought his marriage with Madonna was like "a circus" before it ended, say reports.

The movie director apparently grew tired of the "song and dance" that accompanied being married to the 50-year-old popstar.

According to The Mirror, Ritchie told a friend: "I just wanted a regular husband and wife thing. But it was always a great song and dance just to do ordinary stuff.

"She's obsessed with her own public image, obsessed with being seen as some kind of global soothsayer."

He allegedly added: "I want to be able to go about my business and live my life without all the hoopla.

"Unfortunately, she can't live without all the hoopla. Our marriage was a three-ring circus in the end."

Ritchie and Madonna confirmed they were ending their seven-year marriage yesterday after months of speculation about their relationship.
