Metcalfe 'was dying to dump Nadine'

Jesse Metcalfe has opened up about his split from Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle.

The former Desperate Housewives actor called the singer "needy", while condemning her "diva" behaviour and claiming that their relationship ruined his life and career.

Metcalfe, who parted from Coyle in April 2007 after he was spotted with a mystery brunette, was overheard talking about the relationship at London's Bungalow 8 nightclub.

"Nadine could go in two directions. She could grow up or she could be a diva her whole life," he said, according to the Mirror.

"I have never grieved over our relationship. It was ruining my life, it was ruining my career. You should only be in a relationship if it adds to your life."
