Malkovich directs play in Spanish

John Malkovich will direct in a different language for the second time when he tackles a Spanish production of The Good Canary.

The actor has already helmed a French version of the play, but is not fluent in either language.

Mexican actor Diego Luna has claimed that Malkovich knows the play so well that he could probably direct a version in any language.

Luna portrays lead character Jack Parker, a frustrated writer who struggles to deal with his wife's addiction to amphetamines.

The play will run for ten weeks in Teatro Insurgentes in Mexico City from November 10.
