Obama dances on DeGeneres show

Barack Obama has performed a dance routine during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' chat show.

The Democrat Presidential candidate conducted an interview on the programme via satellite link yesterday.

DeGeneres challenged Obama to show off his dancing skills following comments from his wife Michelle about him being an impressive mover.

"Let's talk about dancing," said Ellen. "Your wife, Michelle, was on the show and she was talking some smack about your moves."

When the James Brown tune 'Get Up Offa That Thing' was played, Obama began gingerly dancing to cheers from a crowd in Florida and the studio audience.

He later commented: "Michelle may be a better dancer than me, but I'm convinced I'm a better dancer than John McCain."
