The former Destiny's Child star was born and raised in Houston, Texas and her work has seen her travel all over the world.
However, she has revealed that she now calls New York home, largely because she is enamoured with the multicultural aspect of the city.
"I am [a New Yorker] now. When I first came here, people weren't friendly and I didn't know where to go," she said.
"Now I love it. I enjoy access to foods I never had before, like Cuban or Indian. I love how multicultural it is.
"You walk down the street and see so many different races. It's normal here and abnormal to be closed-minded. That's beautiful."
