Katona: 'Schofield is ignorant and arrogant'

Kerry Katona has claimed that Phillip Schofield displayed "ignorance and arrogance" during her controversial This Morning interview.

The reality TV star has faced a backlash since she slurred her words as she appeared on the ITV1 morning show on Wednesday.

After Katona had spoken about her recent cosmetic surgery, show host Schofield asked the former Atomic Kitten singer about her speech. She insisted that prescription medication was to blame, but his co-presenter Fern Britton then suggested that she could have a drink problem.

Katona, who suffers from bipolar disorder, has now complained that she was the victim of "discrimination" during the interview.

"He was out of order. Saying I was drunk is ignorant and arrogant," Katona told The People. "Why didn't Schofield ask me about my condition on air and help explain my slurring was due to my illness and medication? I think this is all very wrong. I would take action against him - but I want to see what happens first."

She added: "Everyone is speaking from pure ignorance - it's discrimination against bipolar people. They asked me why I was slurring and I said it was because of my illness and because of my prescription medication. But they completely ignored the fact.

"It was ignorant and discriminatory to anyone who has got my condition and they were completely out of order."

Frozen food retailer Iceland recently vowed to keep using Katona in its advertising campaigns, despite receiving complaints about her suitability.
