Perry mocks knife photo outrage

Katy Perry has spoken out about the controversy surrounding her posing with knife.

The American singer criticised newspaper The Sun for its response to the picture, which was taken three years ago.

Writing on her blog, she said: "Dear Sun: You deserve a time out. Your 'journalistic' approach has half the soul of the National Enquirer. Shame on you."

Spoofing the snaps, Perry posted pictures of herself holding a spoon. "I do condone eating ice cream with a very large spoon," she joked.

Perry's spokesperson said in a statement last week: "Katy Perry is against all violence. The photo in question was taken in 2005 and is in no way related to the current events in the UK."
