Fiona Bruce nearly aborted her child

Newsreader Fiona Bruce has revealed that she nearly aborted her daughter.

The Antiques Roadshow host was told by doctors after a scan that the unborn child's brain was not forming properly.

"The doctor said she wasn't 'viable' and that I should abort her. I desperately didn't want it to be true and demanded a second opinion," she told Sunday Express magazine.

Bruce then discovered that the initial diagnosis was "catastrophically wrong" and went on to give birth to Mia, who is now six.

She added: "It was only afterwards that it hit me: I could have aborted my now very healthy, perfect little girl."
