Glitter to receive £100k for computer ad

Gary Glitter is to receive royalties of around £100,000 after his song was used in an ad campaign.

Computer giant Hewlett Packard features the convicted paedophile's 1972 hit 'Do You Wanna Touch Me' in promotions for its new touch-screen model, reports The Sun.

TV adverts screened across America include a 1982 cover version by Joan Jett. However, as the song was written by Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, he will receive the royalties.

Campaigners have called for the campaign to be axed, with Child Abusewatch.net saying: "It shows a distinct lack of sensitivity."

Hewlett Packard said it pulled internet adverts featuring the song as soon as it learned of the link to Glitter.

The glam rock musician returned to the UK in August, having served a jail term in Vietnam for abusing two girls. He was placed on the sex offenders' register and has since been banned from leaving the country.
