Roger Moore receives French honour

Rex Features

Sir Roger Moore has been made a commander in France's National Order Of Arts And Letters.

The 81-year-old actor said the honour was worth "more than an Oscar" to him.

Moore, best known for his on-screen portrayals of James Bond and Simon Templar in the television series The Saint, attended an awards ceremony in Paris with his wife Christina.

French Culture Minister Christine Albanel described the Brit as a "legend of the big and small screen".
