Carey reveals marriage secrets

Mariah Carey has claimed that "honesty" and "having a good time" is behind the success of her marriage to Nick Cannon.

The singer wed Cannon, an actor and comedian, in April following a whirlwind romance. Despite persistent rumours of problems in their relationship, Carey insists that the couple's marriage has been a success.

She told Entertainment Tonight: "It's all about maintaining that friendship and that closeness. It's about honesty and having a good time."

She continued: "Married life is great. Nick is a great person. He's very smart, he's very loving. He's a caring, incredible person. We have fun - that's the thing. We just have a great time together.

"People were confused about the whole thing in the beginning - they were like 'oh what's going on?' because it was so fast.

"But it's perfectly normal to us, because it just feels like this is how it was always supposed to be. We're best friends."
