O'Grady: 'Move on from Ross and Brand'

Paul O'Grady has said it is time to "move on" from the controversy over prank calls made to actor Andrew Sachs by Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand.

Speaking at the National Television Awards, the chatshow host said: "I think it's about time we all moved on, really. I think there are far more important issues at stake than a radio show on a Saturday night and two comics saying silly things."

He added: "Yes, it's well out of order but it's not a hanging offence. Why is the prime minister getting involved? Shouldn't he be worrying about the war in Afghanistan, the credit crunch, knife crime?"

Brand has resigned from his Radio 2 show and Ross's future is being discussed by BBC bosses following the incident.
