Fogle treated for fatal 'flesh-eating bug'

The former Castaway contestant faces a month of treatment to stop the infection, which left an inch-wide hole in his right arm after a sore broke out.
The bug, known as Leishmaniasis, is transmitted by certain species of sandfly and can lead to permanent damage to the spleen and liver.
Fogle had been filming a new series of adventure show Extreme Dreams when he was struck down and bedridden for three weeks with the illness.
Despite the setback, Fogle's spokesman said the presenter is still expected to take part in the inaugural South Pole Race in December alongside Olympic gold medalist James Cracknell.
