Davina: 'Let's get over Brand prank'

Davina McCall has said people should "get over" the controversy surrounding Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross's prank phone call to Andrew Sachs.

Speaking at the National Television Awards, the Big Brother host claimed that people had passed judgement on the pair without hearing the audio of the incident.

She said: "Let's all just get over it. I haven't heard it myself, but a lot of people are passing judgement without having heard it and I think it's important that we hear what they said and how it was meant before we complain.

"We've got a culture of complaining sometimes, and I've only read it, and on paper it looks pretty bad. But a friend of mine who's heard it said they didn't mean it that badly and said 'go and listen to it', so I will go and listen to it tonight."

McCall added that it would take a more heartfelt apology for her to forgive Brand and Ross.

"I'm not sure if their apology was quite heartfelt enough," she commented. "I'm inclined to forgive them because they're comedians, but I think they need to do a bit more of a heartfelt apology and then I'm over it."
