Russell Brand 'to flee to America'

Russell Brand will reportedly flee to America to escape the controversy surrounding the lewd phone calls he made to Andrew Sachs that were broadcast on Radio 2.

According to The Sun, Brand wants to take refuge in Los Angeles, where his movie career is taking off but has been held back in the UK because of commitments to his Channel 4 show Ponderland.

A source said: "He just wants to get on the next plane out of England - and get away from this mess.

"Russell rushed along the filming so he could get to LA as soon as possible."

Brand and Jonathan Ross were suspended by the BBC after the pair left explicit comments on the voicemail of Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs.

Brand later resigned from the show, saying that he took "complete responsibility" for the stunt and became "caught up in the moment".
