Katie Melua: 'I have a dark side'

Katie Melua has revealed that she has a "dark side".

The 24-year-old singer, who recently released her first 'Best Of' collection, insisted there is more to her personality than the media portrays.

"I have an obsession with horror films, I love old things and Hallowe'en is my favourite day of the year," she told DS. "As a kid I used to flick through my dad's surgery books - I liked the pictures and the gore!"

However, Melua also admitted that she wants to keep her "dark side" away from public view.

"I think the media impression of me is a bit one-sided, but I'm not willing to do anything to change it. I don't want to open up my private life to the public," she said.

"Whatever dark side I have, I want to keep to myself. If it does come out, it will probably be through my music."
