James McAvoy is to be honoured by the drama school where he learned to act.

The Atonement star will receive a fellowship from the Royal Scottish Academy Of Music And Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow later this month, reports the BBC.

Richard Attenborough will also be honoured by the institution. He will be presented with an Honorary Doctorate Of Drama at a graduation ceremony on November 20, after which he will run a masterclass for staff and students at the Academy.

Principal John Wallace described the school as an "extraordinary melting pot of Scottish talent".

"We are delighted that one of the most powerful architects of British industry, Lord Attenborough, will come to work with our students and we are saluting his contribution to our culture, society and economy by awarding him an Honorary Doctorate Of Drama," he said.
