Pregnant Simpson gets father's advice

Pregnant singer Ashlee Simpson has received advice from her father on her impending motherhood.

Speaking on the red carpet at the BAFTA/LA Britannia Awards in Hollywood, Joe Simpson advised the singer to "hold on for dear life because it's a ride".

"I can't be more excited, Ashlee looks beautiful and we're excited," he added. "I'm almost a grandfather, I'm too young but I'm happy."

The singer is reported to be just days away from giving birth to her first child with husband Pete Wentz.

Joe, a former Baptist minister, manages both Ashlee and sister Jessica's careers.
