Large crowds watched as the quartet turned on the Christmas lights from a stage set up at the junction of New Burlington and Regent Streets.
Bassist Dougie Paynter said: "It was awesome and there was so many people there to see it.
"So many great people have done it before. When we did it there was a plaque saying who had done it in the past and there was people like Sir Anthony Hopkins and members of the Royal Family."
He added: "I think the lights are going to look really cool."
Previous stars to turn on the lights include Kylie Minogue, Princess Diana and jockey Frankie Dettori in a tradition dating back to 1954.
