The TV presenters began dating in August, though their relationship quickly cooled after Jones allegedly received a text from his ex-lover Pamela Anderson.
According to The Mirror, the romance has now "crashed and burned".
A source said: "It was a whirlwind affair and initially extremely intense. Unfortunately, though, things fizzled out just as quickly.
"Steve isn't ready to settle down and commit to just one lady, while Fearne had only recently come out of a long-term relationship when they met, and didn't want to rush into anything serious either.
"Neither party has any regrets, as it was great while it lasted. They had a lot of fun but if Fearne is going to be with someone there has got to be more to it than this.
"Their romance crashed and burned. They are trying to stay friendly, but it's not always easy."
