Cheryl Cole has apparently been asked to appear on the front cover of Vogue magazine.

The shoot would come six years after the singer first stepped into the limelight by auditioning for TV talent hunt Popstars: The Rivals.

The Girls Aloud star and X Factor judge is said to be keen, with a source telling the Press Association: "Cheryl has been approached about Vogue and she is very excited."

Icons such as Twiggy, Penelope Tree and Suzy Parker rose to stardom after appearing on the style bible's front cover, while Spice Girl Victoria Beckham claimed the coveted spot in 2006.
