Kanye West yesterday paid tribute to his mother during a live performance a year after she died.

The rapper was doing a show at London's O2 Arena when he blamed his success for the tragic loss of his mother and the collapse of his romance with Alexis Phifer.

In a freestyle rap, West asked: "What would you do if this s**t happened to you? You lost everything that mattered... Moved to L.A., where everything is fake... and your mum goes and does just that.

“Tell me what would you do if this happened to you, lost your girl and everything that mattered to you... For fame I paid the biggest cost, for fame I paid the biggest cost."

West's mother, Donda, died at the age of 58 after complications arose from cosmetic surgery.
